Abuse of a child happening now or recently
- If a child is in danger now, call 911.
- Otherwise, call MDHHS Centralized Intake at 855-444-3911. This is the number the state gives for people who are not mandated reporters.
- Some people must report by law, including physicians, nurses, teachers, school counselors, social workers, law enforcement officers and members of the clergy (MCL 722.623). They can also use the Michigan Online Reporting System (MORS), which the MDHHS page in the sources explains.
Abuse connected to the Catholic Church
The Michigan Attorney General takes information about abuse in the Catholic Church in three ways:
- Phone: the investigation hotline, 844-324-3374, Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Email: the address is on the Attorney General's page.
- Online form: name, phone and email are optional, so it can be sent anonymously.

Abuse that happened years ago
Abuse that happened years ago can still be reported to the police or, for the Catholic Church, to the Attorney General. Whether charges can still be filed depends on the offence and when it happened. The deadlines for charges and civil claims.
